An Explanation of the Facts:
Futureappletree Studio Too is a recording studio based around older equipment...large and small format tape machines, vintage compressors and preamps, and a vibey space. We can cut an entire multi track record, or we can do live to 2 track recording. Futureappletree was the original Daytrotter (RIP) studio and we defined the style in the modern age: live, in a room, with effects, no headphones, no overdubs.
We believe in sounds and results. We have no set ways of doing things...there is no "proper" way to record. Recording should be fun and relaxing...and any question is a good question. We believe in the kind of thinking that analog recording creates. We believe in the equipment and its sound being part of the process of creating recordings. See our equipment page for the amazing array of stuff we have.
We are primarily an analog studio. We track and mix, and can just track or just mix. We like the analog, but can make anything work. .wav files can be used to mix, or bring your machine. Email for rates. We are right next to Rozz Tox cafe/venue in Rock Island, and they have space available to crash/cook/shower at really reasonable rates. Come and hang. The studio is currently upstairs at Laborspace..a 100 year old former print shop. The studio consists of a large live room about 1500 sq/ft and a control room about 600 sq/ft. There is a lounge and kitchen. There is a record and music store in the building (Ragged Records and Music) and a guitar repair shop and practice studios. We are a couple blocks from the Mississippi river, bike trails, parks, restaurants, bars, venues, a botanical center, art galleries, etc. etc. We own a grassy wooded lot next door where chilling and camping is welcome. We are really really laid back and open to any method or idea. We have no mathematical formula, no repeated route we have to follow, no rules or objections to experimentation. Got some songs? We'll get a band together and lay them down. Want to just do some quality demos away from the rat race? Fine. Just ask.
Generally we are $40/hour. We do $350 10 hours days with breaks. We'll negotiate a record or a budget. We can rent the rooms and equipment alone with some tech help.
